Jessica B., Central California Women's Facility (CCWF, Chowchilla, CA)     02/25/11... "Hello Heather... I am 20 years old and had went to church yesterday (Sunday) on 01/16/11, and it was really beautiful... your songs you played were very beautiful.  They really touched my heart.  That one song about when that guy was going to kill himself on the railroad really reminds me of me!  I have really been through a lot.  I lost my mother at 16.  I had to grow up really fast.  I got into a really bad relationship when I lost my mother.  The guy I was with was 11 years older than me and would beat me till I was black an blue.  And the only way I got out of it was when I came here to prison.  I was getting whooped on from 16 to 20 years old, and I'm really tired of it.  He would always make me go steal and I have been in jail a couple of times from stealing because he had made me steal.  I am here because of him.  I have a 4-year-old daughter.  She has seen me with black eyes and bruises.  But she was never there when it happened.  I have really been through too much and I'm scared for him to see me when I get out.  I just wanted to write you because what you told us about what you went through... it really reminded me of what I was going through when I was on the streets.  I had asked God to forgive me of whatever I did for him to beat me.  I had always thought I was doing something wrong.  Well, Heather, thanks for listening to me.  I hope I hear from you soon.  Sincerely, Jessica B.

Tammy P., Central California Women's Facility (CCWF, Chowchilla, CA)     06/27/10... "Heather Layne, I was writing to let you know I'm out of prison.  When you sang for us, you really touched my soul.  I am so grateful to have met you.... I really liked "Amazing Grace"; that one made me feel good and your music really made me open my eyes.  I am in a program now and I would really like to share your music with these girls to help them on their journeys of life.  Thanks for taking the time to read my letter.  God Bless you... Tammy P."

Margaret R., Central California Women's Facility (CCWF, Chowchilla, CA)     05/23/10... "I just wanted to say I love your music and I thank you so much for taking your time off to come and see us.  I love you for that.  Your three songs that I loved the most were "Amazing Grace"... because it reminds me about myself, but at a younger age, and that was 13.  Then I loved "Heart Hang On"... because I've felt like giving up so many times.  And "Close Your Eyes" because when you sang it, I felt like Jesus was right here with me, by my side, and all I had to do was close my eyes and call Him.  Then there was one from last year, "She Rides"... I cry on this one and "Amazing Grace" because of my past... thanks for taking the time to read this.  GOD BLESS YOU and God be with you always.  Sincerely, your friend..."

Denise G., Central California Women's Facility (CCWF, Chowchilla, CA)     05/18/10... "Hello Heather... I hope by the time this reaches you that you will be in the very best of God's care.  I just left the gym listening to you.  You're God's gift.  By the time you get this I will be home.  The words to your songs really touched my heart today.  I'm also a recovering addict going on two years clean by the grace of God.  You are an inspiration to me.  Keep on doing God's work and I'll do the same.  Pray for me and my family, please.  May God bless you and keep you and your family safe from all harm.  Respectfully, Denise."

"Heather, I really enjoyed the lovely concert you performed for us here at CCWF.  It touched my heart.  I will keep the songs and read them often.  I write to Samaritan Women and I saw your picture in their [newsletter] too.  God is good and listening to all prayers.  I love you, Heather.  May God continue to bless you and your family... Love your friend, Tonia."

Debra R.-T, Central California Women's Facility (CCWF, Chowchilla, CA)     02/24/10... "Dear Heather and Company!  My name is Debra; I attended your concert @CCWF a couple of months ago and am now home in Stockton, and remembered you said if I'd write you and ask for CD's, after I parole, you'd bless me with your voice right here, right now.  I need to seek God's face and be encouraged to continue walking upright from this moment forward... it is enough "Debra" (beating self up)... praying for strength and an increased faith to see me through no matter what... if only I can make a decision to follow through, so snap out of it Debra!.... Thank you kindly... I pray His good graces now this day..."

Sarah S., Central California Women's Facility (CCWF, Chowchilla, CA)     12/19/09... "I just saw you in concert here at my prison.  I wanted to write and tell you how much I enjoyed your music.  I loved that you passed out lyrics so I could follow along.  I'd seen you on flyers and wanted to attend and forgot the date, but through a friend I ended up going [to the concert].... I've been letting other people's mistakes and faults get to me.  I guess that's called 'impatience' in a way, with others.  So yeah, it was awesome that God brought me to your concert today.  I don't always make it out the door of our building!  Ok... now let me tell you my favorite lyrics of yours that spoke to me:  Your Love's Enough, Here I Sit (reminds me of me in here), Outrun the Pain (yeah!), A Letter Home, I've Arrived, Christmas List.  These six are my favorite lyrics.  For music, I loved She Rides, plus the six above and Amazing Grace.... That was an awesome treat for us.  We don't get to hear bands and Christian music very often.  I've been here 2 1/2 years and it's only my first time.... Well, God bless and thanks again for coming to play for us.  Your sister in Christ..."  (Please pray for Sarah and her 18-yr.-old son, and 15-yr.-old daughter.  Sarah is also an aspiring singer/songwriter.  Pray that God would develop and encourage her in her abilities).
